How Man Group recruits

You apply through Man Group's own portal and nowhere else: the graduate pages say "We can only accept applications that are submitted via our online portal", and warn that "Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we cannot consider those that are incomplete." You apply per programme rather than once to the firm, and the application form asks "Which programme are you applying for?". Man Group says "there is some variation in our recruitment processes" between programmes, but publishes four stages that are "included in almost all of them". Where a closing date is published the process is not rolling, and Man Group says so plainly: "If there is an application deadline detailed on the job advert, do not expect to hear back from us before then as we will not invite candidates to the next stages of the process until after that date." No reapplication bar is published, though the form asks "Have you previously worked at Man?".

The live Quant Researcher Internship advert on Man Group's own system gives months, not dates: "Application Window: September", "Online Tests: October", "Technical Interviews: October/November", and an assessment centre in October or November. It publishes no closing date. Man Group's graduate programme pages list "Applications Open: Autumn 2026" against the AHL IDI, AHL Quant Talent, Accountancy & Tax, Central Trading, Operations and Solutions graduate programmes. Last cycle the same page carried exact windows: a Wayback capture from 20 October 2025 shows the AHL Quant and AHL IDI Summer Internships open from 12 September to 24 October 2025, and the Accountancy & Tax and general Summer Internship Programmes from 2 October to 3 November 2025. Those windows have been taken off the live page, so the six week September to late October shape from last cycle is the best guide you have for the quant route.

How the process usually runs

Stages as Man Group describes them. Timings vary by programme, so treat this as a guide rather than a commitment.

01Online ApplicationMan Group says "We ask candidates to submit their application and all supporting documents via our online careers portal." It adds that "Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we cannot consider those that are incomplete."
02Psychometric AssessmentNot used on every programme. Man Group says "Our job adverts will state whether psychometric assessments form part of the recruitment process, so you know what to expect before you apply." The quant internship advert lists this stage as "Online Tests: October".
03Pre-recorded Video/ Telephone Interviews"If you have been shortlisted for the next stage, you will be invited to a video or telephone interview, depending on the role you have applied for." The quant internship advert calls its equivalent stage "Technical Interviews: October/November".
04Face-to-face Interviews / Assessment Days"Candidates who have reached the final stage(s) of our recruitment processes will be invited to meet us in one of our offices (or in certain circumstances virtually)." For the quant internship this one is in person: "Please note that candidates will be required to attend the assessment centre at our London Office."

Worth knowing

  • Internships are 12 weeks and aimed at penultimate year students. The quant application form asks "Are you currently in the penultimate year of this degree?" as a required question.
  • The AHL quant routes want a quantitative degree, but not a particular level: "We welcome education levels from Bachelor's to PhD level."
  • The assessment centre for the quant internship is in person in London, not virtual.
  • Applications are only accepted through the portal. Man Group says "We can only accept applications that are submitted via our online portal", not by email.
  • Incomplete applications are discarded, so check the advert for which documents are required. The quant advert requires both a CV and a cover letter.
  • Where a closing date is published, nobody is progressed before it, so applying on day one buys you no speed advantage.
  • You will not get feedback until late. Man Group says it cannot give individual feedback at the CV review or video interview stage, but will discuss your performance after a face to face interview or assessment day.
  • The Technology Summer Internship runs a different and separately published process, including a technical homework of up to two hours, a two hour fifteen minute technical interview with three engineers, and a 45 minute final interview.
  • Man Group publishes no visa sponsorship policy on its student pages. The quant application form asks "Do you require a visa for the country in which you are applying for a role?", which tells you nothing either way.
  • No salary is published for the internship. The application form asks "What is your desired salary?" instead.
  • The internship is a feeder for the graduate scheme: "Candidates who perform strongly during the internship may be offered a place on the Quantitative Talent Programme."
  • The application form asks "Have you previously worked at Man?", but Man Group publishes no bar on reapplying.
