PIMCO graduate schemes

PIMCO runs two summer internship programmes for students, the Summer Analyst Program for "Undergraduate and master's degree candidates currently in their second-to-last year of study", and the Summer Investment Professional Program for "Current MBA, Ph.D. and experienced master's degree candidates". In the UK these sit in PIMCO's London office, and for the 2027 intake PIMCO's own job site listed six London summer intern roles across technology, portfolio management, account management, product, alternatives and quantitative research. There is no separate UK graduate scheme advertised; PIMCO says the internship "serves as a primary pipeline for early career talent and entry into the Analyst Program".

How PIMCO recruits

You apply to a named role on PIMCO's own Workday site, not through one general programme application, and PIMCO's careers FAQ asks you to limit yourself: "We recommend that you keep applications to a maximum of three." If a role runs in more than one location, PIMCO asks you to "communicate your preference for a certain location in your cover letter". There is no fixed deadline. The London 2027 adverts say "We review applications on a rolling basis" and that "Applications for the internship program are reviewed in phases. Candidates are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible to be considered in the initial review. Later applications received may still be considered; however, due to the high volume of interest, we cannot guarantee that all applications will be reviewed." There is no reapplication bar: if you applied before and were not selected, "if you meet the basic eligibility and requirements for the role, you are welcome to apply again". PIMCO also says it will not help you outside the process, because "PIMCO is unable to provide individualized guidance or introductions outside of the formal application process". If you hear nothing, treat that as a no after two months: "If you haven't heard from us in two months about an application, we likely proceeded with other candidates for that particular role."

PIMCO publishes no closing date. The London 2027 summer internship adverts say "Applications open September 2026" and are reviewed "on a rolling basis", and PIMCO's own job site showed the technology advert as "Posted 6 Days Ago" on 6 September 2026, which puts the opening at 31 August 2026. PIMCO's student pages no longer carry an application timeline, but a February 2025 capture of its UK internships page gave the Summer Analyst Program timeline as "Mid-late summer 2024 for the following summer", then "rolling throughout the academic year". So the pattern is a late August or early September opening with no announced close, which means the useful deadline is your own: apply in the first weeks rather than in the spring.

How the process usually runs

Stages as PIMCO describes them. Timings vary by programme, so treat this as a guide rather than a commitment.

01Resume reviewPIMCO says "After we receive your application, we will conduct an initial review of your resume".
02One way video interview and assessment"If you are selected to move forward, you will be invited to complete a one-way video interview and assessment, giving you the opportunity to showcase your interests, skills, and personality as part of the next stage of the process".
03Final round of live interviews"Once you complete the assessment, you will have a final round of live interviews with us via video conference. These interviews typically include both behavioral and technical questions". They are held by video conference, not in person.

Worth knowing

  • London is the only UK location. The 2027 adverts say "Internship positions are located in London" and the roles are listed on PIMCO's job site under London, GBR.
  • The internship is ten weeks. PIMCO says it "runs from early June to mid-August, with the expectation that you will be available for the full duration of the program".
  • For the London 2027 intake you need an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028, and you must be able to start full time work between January 2028 and August 2028. PIMCO writes both ranges with a dash, so the quotes in our evidence stop at the first date.
  • The academic bar is a "minimum 2:1 degree (or the equivalent)". The technology advert writes the same requirement as a "minimum 2.1 degree".
  • No degree subject is named. PIMCO's student hub says "Individuals from a range of educational backgrounds and experiences have found their fit at PIMCO." The technology role does ask for "strong programming skills, such as Python, Java, C#" among others.
  • Neither London advert states a visa sponsorship position. PIMCO's careers FAQ says only that work authorisation "varies from region to region, and is handled on a case by case basis", and tells you to read the instructions in each job description.
  • No pay figure is published. The adverts say only that you will "receive competitive compensation, along with a transition bonus to help with relocation to one of our office locations".
  • PIMCO Prep is a separate early insight session, not part of the application. It is "a live webinar" for "University students in their second year of study", open to "Students from any academic discipline", and PIMCO says "This is not an application or assessment." The EMEA and Americas session is listed for April 2027 with registration "coming soon".
  • One of the six London 2027 roles is an Account Analyst place that also requires you to be "business proficient in English and Arabic, French or Italian".
  • PIMCO has stopped publishing application timelines on its student pages. The programme cards now end at "Various locations throughout North America, Europe, and Asia", where 2024 and early 2025 captures of the same page carried an Application Timelines line.
