How MUFG recruits

MUFG's own applying page describes a five step process that it says applies only to the summer internship and analyst programmes: choose a programme, submit an online application and CV, complete online verbal and numerical assessments, a roughly 30 minute telephone interview, then an in person Assessment Day of group exercises, a business interview and networking. Its Insight Days and Work Experience Programme are recruited separately, each with its own application close date rather than this five step process.

MUFG's own applying and programmes pages state exact windows for the 2026/27 cycle. The Analyst Programme opens 01 September 2026 and closes 25 October 2026, with interviews in January and February 2027. The Summer Internship opens 01 September 2026 and closes 29 November 2026, interviews also January and February 2027. The Apprenticeship Programme opened 17 August 2026 and closes 14 September 2026. The Work Experience Programme opens February 2027 and closes 05 April 2027. Its 2026 Insight Days close on a rolling series of dates between 11 September and 6 October 2026.

How the process usually runs

Stages as MUFG describes them. Timings vary by programme, so treat this as a guide rather than a commitment.

01Choose the programmeMUFG's own words: "We offer many roles you may not be aware of. So do your research and work out which roles interest you most."
02Submit the online application and your CV"Our application form will help us get to know you better. It asks for your contact details and educational background, as well as more open questions about your work experience and why you want to work for us."
03Complete the online assessments"These timed assessments will test your verbal and numerical skills, so be sure to complete some practice tests first to help you become familiar with the format."
04Telephone interview"The interview lasts around 30 minutes, and it's an opportunity for us to get to know you better. We ask a combination of competency-based questions and technical questions."
05Assessment Day"This is where we meet you in person, and where you meet people from across MUFG. You'll take part in group exercises, a business interview and networking sessions."

Worth knowing

  • Analyst Programme requires final year status or graduation within the last 12 months; Summer Internship requires second year (or third year on a four year course)
  • "We believe diversity is critical to our success, so we consider candidates of all degree disciplines"
  • Apprenticeship Programme is open to college leavers with a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at 5-9 grade
