How Legal & General recruits

L&G describes a fixed five-stage Future Talent process: an online application with CV, then online strength-based, numerical and video interview assessments, then a coaching call with the Future Talent Recruitment team, then an assessment centre (interview, group exercise and presentation), then an offer. Summer Internship applicants skip the group exercise and only sit the interview and presentation at the assessment centre stage.

L&G's own page states: "Most of our Graduate roles open to application in October, our Internships in November, and our Apprenticeships in February," with assessment centres indicatively in "Graduate (December and January), Intern (January and February), Apprentice (March and April)," though it notes some roles open outside these windows.

How the process usually runs

Stages as Legal & General describes them. Timings vary by programme, so treat this as a guide rather than a commitment.

01Application"You'll apply through our careers website. This involves providing some basic personal details, including educational background and there will be an opportunity to share your CV."
02Online assessments"You will sit an online assessment asking strength based behavioural questions and numerical questions," plus a video interview answering motivational questions.
03Coaching call"You will then be invited to join us for a coaching call with the Future Talent Recruitment team."
04Assessment centre"This stage will include an interview, group exercise and presentation." Interview is 45 minutes, presentation is 10 minutes plus 5 for questions. "If you apply to our Summer Internship Scheme, you'll only sit the interview and presentation."
05Offer"After successful completing the above steps, you will receive an offer to join the programme."

Worth knowing

  • "Graduate roles require a 2.1 degree, Internship and Year in Industry students should be on track to achieve a 2.1"
  • "Apprenticeship role requirements vary depending on the apprenticeship provider, however, all candidates are required to have the right to work in the UK. Typically, we require a minimum of x 3 C's at A Le[vel]"
  • "We do not offer sponsorship for our Apprenticeship and Summer Internship schemes. However, we do offer sponsorship for some roles on our Graduate scheme."
  • "Currently we offer opportunities in London, Cardiff and Hove."
