Howden graduate schemes

Howden is an employee-owned insurance broking group, 23,000 people across 56 countries by its own count, and its early careers page is written for school leavers, graduates and career changers alike. It runs graduate, internship and apprenticeship programmes, plus a Howden Re insight day for second-year undergraduates, and says plainly that all degrees are welcome.

How Howden recruits

Applications go through Howden's own Workday portal: you create an account, then submit the application with an up-to-date CV and a cover letter. Howden's careers FAQ says every role is assessed differently by department, that its in-house recruitment team gets in touch with next steps if you are successful, and that you should normally hear back within 10 working days.

Howden's early careers page currently states that applications for its 2026 programmes are closed and invites students to register for news of the 2027 graduate, internship and apprenticeship programmes. We registered Howden's job board on 11 September 2026 and list each role the morning it appears there.

Worth knowing

  • On degrees, Howden's early careers page says: "Grades aren't everything. Work experience (or a lack of it) doesn't tell the full story," and of graduates, "All degrees welcome."
  • On visas, its careers FAQ says: "Visa or permit sponsorship is assessed on a case-by-case basis" and that it "can't always guarantee that we will be able to provide visas sponsorship or work permits."
  • Second-year undergraduates can apply for the Howden Re insight day, advertised on the same early careers page.
  • School leavers who have finished education can apply to the two-week Get Into Insurance programme, run with The King's Trust and LIIBA.
