About Barclays

Barclays runs a UK graduate programme in two shapes, an "Explorer" track and an "Expert" track, alongside summer and off-cycle internships, a Discovery insight programme for students up to two years from graduation, and apprenticeships. The two live roles we track are the Capital Markets Graduate Programme 2027 and the Capital Markets Summer Internship Programme 2027, both in London and the graduate programme based at Canary Wharf, covering equity and debt origination, loans, structuring, risk management, leveraged finance and syndication.

Barclays recruits on a rolling, first-come-first-served basis for open vacancies rather than a single fixed deadline, and its own FAQ says applying early matters: "For open vacancies, we recruit on a rolling basis and fill on a first come first served basis, so we recommend applying early." You can only submit one graduate or internship application globally per year; a second application is not considered. The published process has three steps: an online application, two short interactive assessments (with extra skills tests for technical programmes), then an assessment centre with two or three components including a motivational interview with a leadership team member.

Barclays does not publish a fixed application window on its early-careers hub; it states it recruits on a rolling basis. Our own pipeline first confirmed the Capital Markets Graduate Programme 2027 London listing live on 21 August 2026.

  • No degree discipline is required: "Absolutely not. There are people here from all kinds of degree disciplines. When it comes to applications, we're more interested in who you are than what you've studied."
  • On the live Capital Markets Summer Internship Programme 2027 London posting, Barclays states: "Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and will provide a skilled worker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office's eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa."
  • Applicants without sponsorship must have their own right to work in the UK for the internship dates; the same posting requires being "in your penultimate or final year of your degree, in any discipline."
