About Apple

Apple's UK early careers hiring is concentrated in silicon, not in the software roles most people expect. The openings run through the UK GPU Design Centre and the Silicon Technologies group, and cover GPU physical design, RTL design, power optimisation and platform architecture, alongside security engineering in Cheltenham. The work is chip design: Verilog, ASIC implementation, floorplanning, clock and power distribution, and timing signoff.

Apple publish no closing date on any UK posting, so nothing on their board tells you how long a role will stay open. Their GPU internship adverts are the exception and state a timetable outright. Titles are the thing to search on: Apple mark entry level roles either "Early Career" or "Internship" in the title itself, and their internal student tag is not exposed as a filter on the public site.

The GPU internship adverts state it in their own words: "Applications will close by mid-October. Initial interviews will take place in October, with final round interviews in November." The same adverts give start dates of "Winter 2026 or Spring / Summer 2027", so this is not a single summer cohort.

  • Internships require you to still be studying. Apple's wording is that you must be "Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering" or a related field, and that at the end of the internship you "must return to school to continue your education or the internship must be the last requirement for you to graduate".
  • Their UK sites for this work are London Bishopsgate, St Albans and Cambridge. The GPU internship advert says you "may express your location preferences if selected for interview", so the same posting can be based at any of the three.
  • Roles titled "Early Career" still ask for real technical depth. The Early Career RTL Design Engineer posting opens its requirements with "Previous complex IP design experience required", though no number of years is stated anywhere.
