LMAX Group is a financial technology company headquartered in London that runs institutional FX and digital asset trading venues. It has no separate student hub: graduate, junior and apprentice openings sit on the same careers site as every other job, and the ones open to UK entrants have been based in London. Right now that is a single role, "Junior Software Developer (Java)".

How LMAX Group recruits

You apply role by role. Each advert has its own page on LMAX's own careers site and its own form, so there is no one early careers application covering several programmes. No LMAX advert we read carries a closing date, and the job openings page says only "We are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team.", so nothing tells you how long a role will stay up. The form is short: name, email, phone and a CV are required, a cover letter is optional, and two questions are compulsory, "What are your salary expectations?" and "Do you have eligibility to work in the UK?". Have a salary number ready before you start. LMAX publishes no interview stages and no reapplication rule anywhere on its own site.

LMAX publishes no opening or closing dates, so everything datable here comes from its own systems and from archived captures of its careers site. Its applicant tracking system records the current "Junior Software Developer (Java)" as published on 3 September 2026, and a year earlier a Junior Software Developer role was already listed on the careers site by 9 September 2025. The three graduate programmes for 2026 entry were still listed on 13 November 2025 and had gone from the job openings page by 6 December 2025, so the one graduate round we can date closed well before Christmas.

Worth knowing

  • No LMAX advert we read publishes a closing date. The job openings page says only "We are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team."
  • The application form makes two questions compulsory alongside your CV: "What are your salary expectations?" and "Do you have eligibility to work in the UK?". LMAX does not state anywhere on its own site whether it sponsors visas, so the eligibility question is a screen you should answer honestly rather than a sponsorship offer.
  • The "Junior Software Developer (Java)" advert sets no degree requirement, no subject requirement and no grade requirement. Its requirements are written as behaviours, opening with "Be passionate about software development."
  • The work is Java first. The advert lists "Backend: Distributed, event-driven core Java (90% of the code-base), MySQL, Kafka", and describes pair programming, a monorepo and no pull requests.
  • Expect to be in the office. The advert describes a "Collaborative office environment with constant pairing and plenty of social activities".
  • The junior role is not the graduate scheme under another name. On 13 November 2025 LMAX listed "Junior Software Developer (Java)" at the same time as all three 2026 graduate programmes, so they are separate openings.
  • No salary is published. Listed benefits on the junior developer advert include "25 days of holiday", a bonus, pension contribution, private medical, dental and vision coverage, five volunteering days and a season ticket loan.
  • LMAX has also advertised an "LMAX Apprenticeship" in London, which we last saw listed in December 2024 and which is not open now. It was described as "The Apprentice position is an entry-level role designed to provide comprehensive on-the-job training and hands-on experience in Compliance/Finance/Legal.", and asked for "5 GCSEs grade 4 - 9 (A* - C) or equivalent, to include English and Maths.", so it is a school leaver route rather than a graduate one.
  • LMAX also advertises "Sales Graduate (1 year FTC)" roles, but those have been in Singapore and New York, not the UK.
  • The registered operating address is "Operating address: Yellow Building, 1A Nicholas Road, London W11 4AN."
