BNP Paribas runs its UK student and graduate programmes out of London, with Securities Services and apprenticeship roles also based in Glasgow. For students there is a "four-day Spring Insight programme" for first years, a nine-week Summer Internship in Global Markets, Global Banking, Technology or Securities Services, Long Term Internships "between 6 and 22 months" for placement years, and graduate programmes in Global Markets, Global Banking, Technology and Quant. The three roles we track are all 2027 Summer Internships in London.

How BNP Paribas recruits

The rule that matters most is that you get one attempt. Every 2027 Summer Internship advert opens with "You may only apply for one Summer Internship per academic year (Global Banking- Coverage, Capital Markets or M&A, Global Markets, Technology or Securities Services)", and adds "If you submit more than 1 application you will be automatically rejected." Their FAQ sets the same limit across the wider range: you may apply for "One Graduate Programme, Summer Internship or Spring Insight Programme per recruitment year", but "Up to four Long Term Internships per recruitment year". So choose your business area before you apply, because you cannot hedge across desks. The stages then differ by area. For Global Markets the process "includes online psychometric tests, a video interview with the business and an in-person assessment centre"; for Global Banking it "includes online psychometric tests and an assessment centre". Their internships page carries no equivalent line for the Technology internship. You track your application in their own portal, "B.Welcome".

BNP Paribas publishes no closing date. The record behind the Capital Markets advert on their own B.Welcome portal lists only "Ref #", "Country", "Region", "City" and "Contract type", with no closing date field, and neither the internships page nor the FAQ gives one. What they do publish is advice: their application page is headed "Apply early, not last minute" and says "The best applications come in early." Treat that as the only steer you will get. One programme does give a month, and it is not one of the three we track: for Securities Services, "Our Summer Internship runs from June to August each year, and applications open in October." If you want their own dates for the 2027 graduate programmes, they run a "Meet the Recruiter Series" on 5, 6 and 7 October 2026 at which recruiters "will advise on our recruitment timelines, application and assessment process".

How the process usually runs

Stages as BNP Paribas describes them. Timings vary by programme, so treat this as a guide rather than a commitment.

01Upload your CVTheir guidance is to "Know your CV like the back of your hand" and to "think about how you can demonstrate your knowledge of the Bank, including the business area you'd like to work in".
02Online TestsThe FAQ points test queries to "the Aon Support Team", so expect an external test platform. Their own advice is to "practise competency-based questions".
03InterviewFor Global Markets this is described elsewhere on their site as "a video interview with the business". They frame it as "a two-way process" and suggest you prepare questions to ask them.
04Assessment CenterTheir words, and their spelling. "This is the final stage and is a mixture of individual tasks, group exercises and interviews. Once you reach this stage, we'll send you some more details to help you prepare."

Worth knowing

  • You may apply for up to four Long Term Internships in a recruitment year, but only one Graduate Programme, Summer Internship or Spring Insight. The long term route runs "between 6 and 22 months" and is open to "a student on a placement year, or within two years of graduation".
  • On visas, the FAQ says "We support applications from candidates requiring a work permit. However, restrictions may apply depending on the region, programme or role." It also says "Currently we do not offer visa sponsorship for the I2020 and Apprenticeship programmes." The page does not say what I2020 stands for.
  • The internship is a nine week audition. "Throughout your Summer internship you will be assessed for a Graduate role", and the Capital Markets advert says you "may be considered for the 2028 Global Banking Graduate Programme in London ONLY".
  • You must be "in your penultimate year of study" and "On track for a 2:1 degree or equivalent". Global Banking states "a 2:1 degree in any subject"; Global Markets says "Ideally, you'll have a STEM background", which is a preference, not a bar.
  • The Spring Insight is a genuine shortcut. It is for students who are "a first-year undergraduate or in the second year of a four-year course", and "On the final day, you'll be invited to an assessment centre for a chance to secure a Summer Internship the following year."
  • There is a separate route for women in trading. The live 2027 Women in Trading Academy advert states "All successful Woman in Trading Academy applicants will automatically secure a space on our 2027 Summer Internship programme", subject to accepting that offer. It asks for "A predicted 2:1 grade or equivalent in a STEM degree to be completed in 2028".
  • There is no summer internship for quants. Their page says "we do not run a Summer Internship programme for Quant Research & Engineering", and long term interns there "can serve as a direct pipeline to our Quant Graduate Programme". The Quant graduate role asks for "A master's or PhD in a quantitative subject".
  • They state that "The UK Early Careers and Experienced Hire Recruitment teams do not use Artificial Intelligence technology to process your applications". Their own advice permits AI on your side: "Use AI tools to help structure or check tone but speak in your own voice."
  • Interview travel is refundable. "If you are required to attend the BNP Paribas offices at any stage of the recruitment process, you can request reimbursement up to a specified amount."
  • No pay figure is published for any student programme. The only pay wording anywhere is qualitative, for example a "one-year paid trainee programme" in Securities Services.
  • Glasgow is a real option, but only for some routes: the Securities Services summer internship takes you "in London or Glasgow", and apprentices are "based in our London and Glasgow offices".
  • If school leavers are relevant to you, apprenticeships have a published annual window: "Our Apprenticeship roles open early February each year." They are "Level 3 and Level 4" only and ask for A-levels plus "a minimum of a grade C in Maths and English GCSE".
  • The year at the front of an advert title is their "recruitment year", not the year you would start work. A 2027 Summer Internship is the summer 2027 intake.
